While I agree that this is a nice thing to do it is useful
only for those really, whose orders have little to do with
what they say in their private press. I will do this press
to myself later on but at this point I do not find it
important to repeat myself.

Austria,
OK, hopefully you will be around for more press this turn. I think
that if we talk things through it will be better for both of us.
While you are in a strong position now, you have already made some
enemies/people are a little threatened by you (I'm not just talking
about russia).
Usually theBalkans can take a while to resolve itself...however, with
your bold moves...the alliances will resolve quickly i think. With
Italy moving West (hopefully)...I would like to talk some specifics
with you WRT to Russia. you burned Russia and Russia burned me. If
just you attack russia, then that will probably be a quagmire for you
and either Italy and/or can take advantage. However, if we build a
solid alliance, then we can take Russia down quickly inthe south.
(His northern moves make me nervous that he has sweet talked E-G into
nice things for him).
let me know what you think.

Message from Russia to Austria
Well, I'm somewhat surprised and disappointed. Did
I do something, or NOT do something, to cause you
to lie to Germany about my plans, and to violate our
DMZ of Galicia? Or do you just view Russia as a
target when you play Austria? Please, let me know
what's on your mind.
Nicky.

Tsar:
I was a bit frightened with some press from West and I didn't believe in
your move to Livonia.Usually Russia does A War-Gal.About lieing to Germans,I
was afraid...My humble apologies about that.My army will leave Galicia right
away.
I know that I've blown out the trust you have on me...but I hope that we can

My Dear, Duke Haider,
> I was a bit frightened with some press from West
Really? What did you hear that frightened you?
> I didn't believe in your move to Livonia.
> Usually Russia does A War-Gal.
War-Gal is probably Russia's most common move, but
War-Ukr is hardly unusual. I try to be as honest
as I can be, even telling the Power I'm planning to
attack as much of the truth as I can. You never
know when you may need to join forces to stop a
Solo threat, or need someone's help to survive a
stab, so establishing a basic reputation for
honesty can have benefits down the road. Had I
planned to move to Gal, I would not have devoted
so many letters to getting an agreement about the
DMZ.
>My army will leave Galicia right away.
You might want to go to Vienna. Italy could
order Ven-Tri, Pie-Tyl.

Oh, of course! Even if our Armies end up fighting,
there is no reason for us to stop talking.
Nicky.
Message from Italy to Austria
Greetings then. It looks like the first part of our plan went well. As
promised, it seems like now is a good time to re-evaluate and see if we
want to continue with the Orient Express.
To recap, it would involve me borrowing Trieste for this year, which would
free up my fleet to skip Tunis and head right into the Aegean, giving us a
foot up on the Turkish attack. Also, promising support of Bul-Rum but
instead supporting Russia to Rumania.
So what do you think? I think it still looks like a great move, but I
want to make sure that *you're* comfortable with it. I don't want to go
into Trieste and then have you mad that I stabbed you. Or worse, bouncing
me out of Trieste

Archduke,
I can see that you are doing well, congratulations. I seem
to have some trouble with my neighbors, hopefully I will be
able to sort it out gradually. I will try to guess right in
the fall and then I will start defending, mostly against
Germany (I cannot defend against all and Germany seems to be
the best pick to keep the center).
What's the story on the east? I am guessing that Russia is
somewhat mad because of your trip to Galicia, right?
Apparently Italy also seemed to put A Ven next to you which
at least shows that he is not into a full French attack
(yet), otherwise that army would have gotten convoyed
through Tys. How is that promising Turkish connection?

The Tsar is quite mad indeed.I guess I have to get my Galician army to

Yes, I can sense that Nicky is somewhat picky. He is
certainly very concerned about you and keeps asking me about
my thoughts concerning you. We are on good terms so in case
you want me to plant anything into his ears, I am happy to
help.
In fact I am somewhat disappointed that he is reluctant to
start an offensive in the north which would be very welcome
here in Paris. If he keeps his attention on the far east, I
hope that you will emerge fast enough to put at least some
pressure on Germany before it is too late for me.

It is hard to tell what Italy is up to and I do not think

He is relunctant because of me...that makes sense. If I join with
Turks,Southern Russia can be quickly taken. That's what Tsar is thinking.
I must convince the Tsar Nicky that I made that A Vie-Gal just for a

Well, it depends on what Russia's plans are. If he wants Sev-Rum or
Ukr-Rum. Just make sure to talk to him and coordinate how he wants to
play it. Probably Ukr-Rum is the best move though.

I would suggest that you support yourself to Greece,

I would like to make an offer to you.I would like to take Greece. That would
be taken with F Alb-Gre.In exchange I can support you to Rumania(as you can
see in the map I have 2 units ready to support your move...).With this,we

Unfortunately, that won't work too well, since I can only get one

Thank you. Please understand that I'm not upset with you, and I'm not
committed to destroying you because you violated our DMZ. I
understand that agreeing to a DMZ puts you at risk, and if you felt that
I was proposing it to set you up for a stab, then your move was strictly
defensive. I'm willing to accept your pulling back as demonstration of
your desire to work with me.
> What do you say about retaking our conversations after Fall 1901?
Of course. We would not have begun joint operations against Turkey
until 1902, anyway, so there is no reason for this incident to significantly
alter our plans.

OK...and perhaps we can start a dialogue on what you see after this.
Where do you want to expand? If we are going to start an alliance, I
would like to see it be an equal partnership. I would lik to slowly
expand north and south/west. I would agree to us staying equal in size
(with you maybe taking 1-2 SCs before me. The reasoning here is that

yes it does..but you better be careful WRT to Trieste. If he takes Tri,
it would be devasting for you at this early juncture of the game. There
is nothing that you could do if he stabbed you there...and really nothing

Also, I've been hearing some rumors about you moving Ser-Tri. I hope they
are just the feeble attempts of other powers trying to get between us. If
you don't want me to move to Trieste, just let me know and I'll hold or
move Ven-Apu to set up the convoy into Turkey.
Message from Italy to Austria
Also, I'm a bit confused why you're ordering Gal-Vie. If we're to ally we
need to take out *both* Russia and Turkey. An army in Gal is key to the
attack, however much the Russians don't like it. After all, Galicia falls
under *Austrian* borders, not Russian, and borders 2 home centers.
What do you think about Ser S Gal-Rum, or Gal-War? Do you not trust the

Greece, unless you think Turkey and/or myself is up to no good.

Just to gain their trust,Mario...If we make them fall, then we must do it
swiftly...and silently.A stab is always a dangerous thing to do.Or they get
the stab and "be crippled" for the rest of the game, or the stab is bad and
we can be doomed.
