Message from Turkey to Austria and Italy
Wow, I can't belive France has retreated.
So here is what I think...if I approach France to move back, then
what he will do is use it to stir up trouble amongst us. (probably
France's best shot at a solo).
but if Austria goes to France, and says look
turkey could quickly take 2 centers and start stabbing italy and
austria; however, it's pretty clear that austria could throw the game
to france.
it is pretty clear that turkey is so afraid of giving a solo to
france, that he won't attack, so we should set draw now OR france
should give 3-4 centers to austria and italy...then turkey could be
hoodwinked into thinking that a 2WD is more likely..but the plan
would be for A and F to get rid of Turkey (and probably Italy). (Of
course France if France is getting greedy about the solo, he might go
for this gamble.)
then get france to approach me (turkey) with this plan, except that
instead of me attacking A and I, all three of us attack France.
(France will think he is clever and manipulating the situation such
that we start attacking each other.)
Overall I think the game plan needs to be to convince France to let
someone across the stalemate line. He may not want to..but until he
does I think we should not advance and only keep ordering supports.
We aren't biting. e.g. spa-lyo, mao-naf, por-mao in one turn puts him
back almost to where he just was
And I won't talk to France at all (won't be difficult since I'm on
vacation starting friday for a long week).
And for this set of moves, i'll order exactly the same thing as last turn.
Message from Italy to Austria and Turkey
One other thing to consider, before we go into any of this, is taht I
think I should reclaim at the least Rome and Naples. Perhaps I'm being
selfish? But, here's what I'm seeing.
It may be at this point that France claims that all he wants is a 3-way
draw. At one center, he may just sit there and demand that I be
eliminated. He could start getting out some of the rules lawyering I
brought up a few days ago - saying that if you do not play in accordance
to these house rules, that you must be replaced or something.
The best way to counter his arguments is to put me up to 3 cetners (Tun,
Rom and Nap). That way his argument is shot down, and then and only then
I think will he start listening to the arguments about how he should let
us go in across the stalemate line. If *both* AUstria and I approach him,
he may be willing to cede Mun/Ber and Iberia!
Also, what do you think about Tys-Lyo this turn? It might be nice to not
have to wonder every turn if I'm going to be eliminated. Of course, if it
doesn't happen this turn then maybe I've got some breathing room...
Certainly there has to be a plan that allows advancement while still
offering protction against French moves into Wes and Naf?

I dont think we have any fear of that.

I am NOT moving off this stalemate line.
Show me how we can do this safely...we hve to be able to hold him off for
2-3 years as you wont build until the end of the 2nd year.

I'll have to look at the map some more, which I don't have time to do.
I definitely agree with you though that we don't do anything unless we
can guarantee holding him off forever and I mean guarantee.

ok, i'm back..so where do we stand for this next set of moves?
anything decided?
Austria, are you ok with taking some of France's stalemate line while
keeping what you have?

Only if he moves far enough back. And I think I know what that is, but I
am not sure exactly yet.
