Message from Austria to Master

First some thought on the winter results. It was another very good turn for
me:

1. Italy chose to build a fleet in Rome.
2. Russia disbanded his fleet in the Black Sea.
3. France made what appears to be an anti-English build (an army in Brest),
despite the English peace signal in the fall. There is a possibility that it
is going to convoy it to Naf, but I don't think so. If France had wanted to
make an anti-Italian build, an army in Mar would have been his choice.

I have no idea why Turkey decided to keep the fleet in Aeg, but I guess the
spring will tell.

This year, I am faced with a dilemma. I want to keep Italy happy, but I also
do not want him to get Ankara. Unfortunately, I doubt I can achieve both of
these things. Therefore, I have decided to make an immediate stab on him
this spring (Tri-Ven, Vie-Tyr), and instead of attacking Mos/War, I am
moving Sev-Arm to take control of Turkey. That is much more urgent -- I can
take Mos/War whenever I want, and the three Russian armies are no threat to
me.

I am also moving Bul-Con, Con-Ank, which probably will bounce with Italy's
Smy-Ank. I fear that Italy will try to dislodge the Italian fleet in Aeg, so
I am making Gre-Ion to cut support. If Gre-Ion succeeds, I would not be too
unhappy either. :-)

Another reason why it is right to stab Italy now is that I need to get to
Tunis before France does, so I need to start building fleets.

Message from England to Master

Well the build in ROM wasn't surprising. I had hoped to see that France was aware that Italy would be turning his attention to him. The build in BRE indicates a convoy. I will now have to give up an SC in Scandinavia to return home and fight the frenchman further. I dont see him getting a build this year unless I guess wrong about his moves. Next year he will be facing an Italian invasion. I had hoped that France whould retreat and work with me, alas.

Message from France to Master

Italy builds fleet in Rom. Ouch.

I can't afford a war on 2 fronts. But on the other hand if I lay off England
now, then there is a pretty good chance that E/I will attack me in any case.
So I'm continuing against England for now. I can't actually lose a unit to
Italy and I'm guaranteed a build which will help me defend.

On a wider front, Austria is doing just too well. If Italy keeps a close
watch then it is fine, but if Italy commits all its forces to a western attack and
leaves Turkey and Italy wide open to a stab, there is a real proble.

Looking to the critical stalemate points ;
Stp
Mun
Tun
Austir is a long way from Tunis, but the other 2 are in danger.

I just hope Austria stabs Italy too early.

Message from Germany to Master

And the genious does it again. Russia now hands the entire southeast side
to Austria, while still insisting on keeping Silesia, just in case he can
sneak into one of my centers. Brilliant.

Italy doesn't help things much by whacking on Turkey. Where does he think
Austria is going to next after he cleans up Turkey and Russia? (That
includes taking Smyrna off Italy's hands).

Austria now has an easy time by moving Sevastopol to Armenia and sliding his
other units into position on the Russian border. Even if Russia bounces him
(doubtful) he is still in a great "noone can touch me" position. Even worse
is the chance that he just plain moves to Tyrolia and Bohemia and begins
whacking on me. That's coming eventually anyway.

France on the other hand builds anti-E which is great. He must be using his
Burgundy unit to defend against Italy, which means Mun is safe from France.
For now....Why do I see Belgium moving to Ruh?

England, if he's smart, dislodges NAO (Iri->MAO to cut, Lvp supports
Cly->NAO). Edi moves to Nwg, and pop goes the French fleet. Meanwhile he
loses London which isn't so great, but that's undefendable.

France convoys Belgium to Lon or Wal is a mighty wicked move. Lon for the
obvious centre gain, but Wal is such a nice position. Bre might be doing
this move instead now that I look at it. Personally I'd be sending Bre to
help hold the south side. But so far, none of this game has made much
sense. Typical in nopress.

The game is Austria's for all intents and purposes, because EF keep
bickering, and RE won't let me do anything. England should have taken Stp
when he had the chance. I'd have helped him pound on France and we could
take on Austria. Now...they have no chance.

My moves are the usual BS. Bounce over Mun and Bal->Den

Message from Italy to Master

This will be a telling year. If Austria plans to stab me it should come
now. I am gambling that he will not and am heading for France. The Turk
can become a nuisance with the one fleet, but should only be a temporary
pain. France is fully involved with England and must also be looking for
Austria to stab me.

I could order ION - APU to protect myself, but that would slow the westward
movement. Here's to hoping Austria does not stab. Without fleets, he
cannot go far and he did not build fleets. F TRI would have really worried
me.

Message from Russia to Master

There was a famous quote from Danny White
as he was put in on for Roger Staubach on a Monday
night football game when they were down to the Baltimore
Colts 38-0 in the 4th quarter. White said to the coach
"Do you want me to go for the win or the tie?" I guess I
feel like that now. So tongue in cheek, I go down fighting
at least half-heartedly.
