Germany: Fleet Denmark can retreat to Baltic Sea or Helgoland Bight or Skagerrak
Turkey: Army Galicia can retreat to Ukraine
Russia: Army Warsaw can retreat to Moscow or Ukraine
Message from France to England
Ivy:
I think that went well. Thank you for keeping the trust
between us.
It looks like we will likely need to transfer Belgium to
you. I do not want to make that a guarantee until we
study the situation, but that seems like a reasonable
starting point.
Russia stayed at 3 again, right?
I know that Italy's retreat is making you nervous. But
remember that it is supressing Turkey making you and I
*both* the big winners. You may need to betray Russia
soon. That decision may influence the Belgium situation.
In many ways, Germany is doing the same thing as Italy,
retreating east, to set up a defense there.
I should look at the map and wait on the retreats before
me make final plans.

Fredd:
Given your situation, that was pretty well done on your
part. I am sorry that I felt that I could not choose to
help you.
Is your plan to take out Russia and set up your defense
in the east? I am wondering if that is Italy's goal as
well.
I admit that I have not been paying very much attention
to the game, so I am probably misunderstanding the
situations.

Ali:
I admit to being very surprised by Italy's moves. I have
heard nothing from him, so I do not know exactly what he
is up to. Rumors are that he is trying to entice England
to stab me by making me look dangerous. I think you
mentioned that as well. I am doing everything I can to
try and both help you by damaging Italy and keep England
from getting nervous. It is a difficult thing to do.
Will you be retreating from Galaicia or disband so you
can build at home? (I haven't checked to make sure that
there is a spot open to build.)

Prince Boar,
>I think that went well.
You just _think_ it went well? 8-)
You will have access to Munich, Venice, Naples and Rome next year. That
should make you feel pretty good.

It depends on whether or not we want you to take all you can get. We will
have to bring our forces into better balance and that may require some
ingenuity. I have no specific plans yet. Like you I must study the map
and look at the retreats and builds.
>Russia stayed at 3 again, right?
Yes, and a Russian retreat to Baltic permits him to walk into Sweden in the
spring. It's not going well for Russia. He is having the same difficulty
subduing Germany that Germany had in finishing off Russia earlier.
I have a very full day. You may not hear from me again in 24 hours.

And I should tell you what I'm doing, why?

Fredd:
I certainly do not expect you to tell me any information
that might compromise your position. If you want or need
me to know something, then you can tell me at that time.

Message from Russia to all
Sorry. I was trying to disband A War, but neither
D War or R War worked. I guess I'll just retreat,
instead.
Russia.

Nick:
Just type "disband"
Since you only have one unit, that should work.
Otherwise I think that "A War disband" is the correct
syntax.
Good luck,
Xavier
PS: What do you need to get a build this year. In my
negotiations with Ivy, I will try to push for what you
want.

Yes, that looks right. I was using Adjustments syntax,
"Disband A War".

If I count correctly, Germany will be disbanding two,
so where my next Center or Centers come from will
depend on that to a large extent. I appreciate your
support, though.
Your Friend,
Nick.
Message from Italy to France
Play your cards right, and you will win this game. Make me disband again,
and I may not make the unbelievably one-sided orders you've seen recently.
England is encouraging me to continue my attack on Turkey thinking that, if
successful, I would turn to fight you. He couldn't be further from the
truth. I'd simply continue to order my units so that you'd eventually reach
18 making no attempt to stop you in the Balkans or Turkey for that matter.
However, if I have to disband in the near future, there is a 100% chance
that Turkey will grow as I will give him all my centers in the Balkans.
I will leave it up to you as to whether you want a cakewalk to victory or be
stuck between England and Turkey neither of which will have a viable enemy
to attack them.

Roberto:
Thank you for your note. It was nice to hear from you
again. I was worried that you would never choose to
write again.
I do admit to being confused by your message. By not
taking any of your centers, how do you propose that I
achieve this cake walk to victory. What are you
suggesting that I do instead? How does letting you grow
achieve this end?
Hmm, I guess you said that I should not cause you to
disband. Are you asking me to slow down my assault to
match your taking of centers from Turkey? It would be
difficult to anticipate perfectly that rate.
Everyone was telling me that your goal was for me to grow
quickly and become a threat that they all must deal with.
I am not sure if this is based on your words or their
interpretation. Since I had not heard this from you, I
decided to discount it, until proven otherwise. Do you
care to elaborate, or would your prefer to remain silent?
I am taking no great joy in the path that I am on. It
seems the only reasonable alternative. I realize that
you get no joy from it either, and for that I apologize.
I look forward to hearing more from you.

I hope that you survived your busy day. It appears that
we are still waiting for a late party.
I think that your concerns for Italy handing me all his
centers are becoming less likely. He has sent a letter
strongly warning me not to do so. It appears that he is
reconsidering that tactic. Nevertheless, I am still
leaning towards your taking Belgium as that gets the
fleet out of the Channel! I just do not want to see
another one enter. I also want to have you take Belgium
as I expect that you will need to transfer a center to
Russia. I think that it is best to appease him until
Germany is severely declawed.

Prince Boar,

Yes, with a build phase to follow. Germany's two removals will probably
shape my next moves, but without advance knowledge of what he will remove,
I'm trying to put the game out of my mind and focus on work.
>I think that your concerns for Italy handing me all his

He sent me a note saying that if you take any of his home centers, he will
start giving his units to Turkey. I find this heartening in one sense. It
appears that Roberto is really playing the game in good faith; he seems to
be trying to salvage his position and is not quiting out of disinterest.
There is a chance that he might be able to talk Turkey into a truce line.
That would seem to be in the interest of both Turkey and Italy.

We agree. I probably will be required to retreat from StP. You can score
some points with Russia if you tell him that Eng->Bel & StP->Nor is your
way of transferring one of your units to him. 8-)
I may be out of town from about mid-day Saturday through Monday evening.
I'll let you know.

Precisely. If I happen to gain a center, I will waive the build so you can
take it the following year unopposed. Wouldn't matter if I built anyway,
you could take it regardless. Once Turkey begins to collapse, you'll be
able to take several centers to make up for the slower rate. I'm sure after
the spring, we'll have a better idea of how many centers will be available.
If I 'guess' correctly, I should be able to take two from Turkey.

Pure speculation on everybody's part.

Quite the contrary. I'm enjoying this game more and more as the days pass.
If you need further clarification, it will need to wait until Tuesday as I
will be gone for the weekend.
