Nick:
Oh well, I guess that you are not available. I hope that you arranged
things well in the North. In the South I have no choice but to do what
I must do to insure that Italy ends up with as few centers as possible.
This may not be the optimum, but it is the best that I can do. It is
certainly not even foolproof, but the best option. I sure hope that you
are taking Warsaw.

Sorry for being out of touch before the deadline, my wife wanted the
PC. If it's any comfort, England didn't want to be in Pic, you're
building two, and Italy is annoyed about Lvn-War. I just woke up
and read my mail, and looked at the results so I have no analysis to
offer at this point.

We could have prevent it if you had told me the plan.
For what it is worth, I do not want him in Picardy
either. We are very close to the point where my defense
is cracked and I start handing over centers to Ivy, to
hasten his victory and get this thing over with.
In the south, you will have to do something about Italy
immediately or else he will be impossible to eliminate.
I best end this letter now, before I type something that
I wish I hadn't. As I indicated in my notes last night.
People around me, perhaps me, will have far bigger
problems than a diplomacy game.
If I proposed the 4-way draw, would everyone vote for it?

Today is layoff day at work. I will most likely get my
adjustments in by tonight, but my eoy messages will have
to wait. Right now there are more important concerns.

Roger,
My thoughts will be with you, and I hope things
turn out alright for you. If you want to propose
a 4-way, go ahead. My suspicion is that England
and/or Italy would vote no, but I could be wrong.
Actually, I could propose it, if you'd like. It
would serve to cover our plans to eliminate Italy
to a certain extent. No rush on responding.
Good Luck,
The Russian Player whose name you know, but
who isn't supposed to use it here.

Farewell to Turkey, and thank you for playing. If you have time, please
submit by 'press to m' and End-of-game statement for the sake of posterity.
As I've mentioned before, 'titleist' will eventually be a Showcase game
and the readers will no doubt be interested in your take on the game.
Actually, if you prefer, you could broadcast your EOG instead -- it's
up to you. And I'll encourage everyone to add their comments at the
end of the game, as well.
Thanks, again,
Doug

Does that mean what I think it means? Are you secure?

Thanks for asking. I expect to be OK, but I will not
know for sure until the end of the day.

He wasn't sure he was going to order it when I had to log off last night.
I reccomended against it since he said he didn't want to be there, but I
guess he decided Pic S Hol-Bel, Ruh-Kie was you most likely move.

You're at 14 Centers, 14 Units; I'm at 7 Centers and 5 Units. If you
choose to throw the game to England, I can't stop you, but as a threat
it has little meaning to me, since it's STILL easier for you to Solo than
it is for you to throw the game to England. If you really want to throw
the game, throw it to me. 8-) At this point it would be almost as easy
as throwing it to England. You'll retake Pic this Spring, and probably
destroy his Fleet in the process, so I don't see that your defense is
appreciably weakened.
> In the south, you will have to do something about Italy

Italy's response to my move to War was to threaten to throw the
game to you if I take Sev. I will not be able to attack Italy this year,
but we should be able to continue our coordination there.
> If I proposed the 4-way draw, would everyone vote for it?
Italy is talking about disbanding Arm, rather than Sil because he wants
to try to get one or more of his Home Centers back with Sil. My pointing
out that we needed a fourth Unit in Turkey to lock down that end of the
stalemate line carried no weight. I suspect, therefore, that he meant what
he said when he told me he wouldn't set draw unless he had the lead in
the Center count. I'm not sure about Ivy.

Nick.
