Message from France to Master
Ugh. Losing Munich stinks (duh). I suppose that you win some and you
lose some. I actually thought he might try and take a shot at Munich, but
I thought maybe he would try Boh S Tyl-Mun, with Ven-Tyl, in an attempt to
free up a home center for a build. I don't know why he would order Tyl S
Boh-Mun, when I've cut Tyrolia every turn for the past million or so.
Unless maybe he was trying to outguess my outguess of his guess? :-)
Guess I should have cut Tyrolia again instead of trying to get fancy. An
additional annoying thing now is that Turkey can send Gal-Boh for a
perfect stalemate-line filler.
So, I have a decision to make now. Do I continue trying to press forward
and solo, or do I go to plan B (let Russia gain in the north in an attempt
to incite Turkey to take a chunk out of southern Russia).
On the one hand, my Plan B might come into play very soon now. I mean
Russia does already have 9 centers. And his play has shown that he
doesn't really want Turkey around (i.e. his dislodgement of TA Ukr last
fall).
But... I'm not ready to give up just yet. They've got enough units to
stop me, if they do it right, but Russia so far has shown a desire to
continue attacking rather than hunkering up for a stalemate (not, of
course, that this is necessarily a bad thing).
I added it up, and given my 4 southern units, plus units in Bur, Ruh, Hel,
and Kie gives me 4 extra units to advance. I'll need 2 of them in Nth and
Nwg, and might need another one in Hol (to support Kie), but that's still
a free unit that should let me take Denmark. Which gives me another unit,
etc. Russia has a stalemate line that he might use (Stp, Fin S Nwy, Ska,
Bal S Den, but I hope to be able to bust that up before he gets the units
in place. If not, Plan B.
I'm torn between destroying that Russian fleet now in Wales and letting it
wander around. This is not really an issue right now (I can't destroy it
this turn), but it's going to come up soon. It's annoying yes, but it's a
unit that Russia can't rebuild back at home as something more useful. But
it takes a couple of my units to wander around after it. So I guess that
answers my question. One option might be to destroy that unit in a turn
that I take a center off of Russia, in essence choosing his removal for
him. I'll have to try and remember that.
This turn, I'm going to try and hold my line in the middle and the bottom
of the board. The question is in the north. The obvious move is Edi S
Iri-Lvp, Mao-Eng, Nth-Lon. This takes Lvp and covers London. The problem
with those orders is that I can definitely see Russia not ordering Wal-Lon
and ordering Nwy-Nth, in an attempt to take the North Sea (which would be
no good). My options are Nth S Mao-Eng (hoping for no Wal-Lon), and
Edi-Nth-Lon (hoping for no Wal-Lvp).
I really have to take Lvp and hold Lon, because I can't afford another
disband. I've got nothing I can break. But I really can't afford to give
up Nth either. I can use F Hel to move to Nth, but a) that risks Kiel
this year (which I can't lose either), and I really can't afford that move
to succeed, since I need that fleet in Hel to protect Kiel and threaten
Den.
Well, after staring and thinking for a long time, I am going to risk
London. Here goes nothing...

much to my surprise, A Boh - Mun succeeded!
(incidentally, without T having to take Vie). what's
more, provided A Sil S A Mun, it seems that this time
F will have a very hard time trying to evict me from
Mun: he just does not have enough armies!
i think all i have to do now is wait and see what
happens elsewhere.
i'll try and send peace signalls instead of holding my
armies (althouh i do not have enough of them for all
three powers), hopefully the others will agree that we
had enough bloodshed already.
Message from Russia to Master
France is conceeding ground and making sure to cover his back
and it won't be long before my raider unit is taken care of. As for
Turkey's request of Berlin, I consider the north to be mine and
would prefer to see him stop sending armies up my way; but I
would be ok with seeing him take Munich with what he had to
sent to help with the french raider.
With Ber & Mun secured, since Sil can support Mun, and Lvp a
sure lost, France has a deficit of one sc to take care of, so I doubt
he will take risks this fall. I expect him to support Kie with Hel &
Ruh and to protect Lon from Nth (with Mao-Eng to squeeze my
raider and destroy it next spring).
So, here's my plan:
- Wal-Eng, Nwy-Nth & Fin-Nwy
- Pru-Ber & Ber-Kie supported by Bal & Den
- War-Gal & Ukr-Rum
I hope that playing for positionning is the best move here, but
there's a chance I'm wasting a good opportunity with Lon
Message from Turkey to Master
Things are looking a lot better.
I will support MUN and take an Italian SC back. Italy cant build.
Second thoughts he may get worried and throw the game.
